A Thought To Savor
Christian kindness is more than simply being nice. It is the grace of Christ made visible in our lives.
We show mercy because we have received mercy: "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32).
We serve because Christ first served us: "The Son of Man came not to be served by to serve" (Mark 10:45).
We give because God has given so generously to us: "God is able to make all grace abound to you" (2 Corinthians 9:8).
The gospel does more than change what we believe; it changes how we live. The grace we receive from Christ becomes the grace we extend to others. Paul reminds us, "Let us do good to everyone" (Galatians 6:10).
Kindness, then, is not merely a personality trait or a polite way of treating others. It is the fruit of the Spirit at work in us (Galatians 5:22-23)–a small but visible expression of the love of Christ.
So, as we go about our days, let us look for opportunities to make the grace of Christ visible.
Grace received becomes grace extended. By His Grace and for His Glory.
– Kenneth Trotter

Cantabile
What a joy it is to sing all together in the Great Hall once again this year! The Oaks will continue our tradition of beginning and ending each week with Cantabile this year (Mondays at 8:15am and Fridays at 3pm).
Cantabile Etiquette
As we seek to make our Cantabiles a profitable time for everyone involved, please help reinforce the training the teachers are instilling in your children. Students have been asked to move to their spots during the call song and then to stand with their class until they are dismissed. All guests, including grandparents and alumni, are welcome to join in singing on the main floor, but we ask that only parents, students, and faculty be upstairs during this time. Parents, by arriving early enough to stand with your child in their class line and by pulling in closer, you can help to make this a lovely time for all. As a reminder, song books are available as you enter the Great Hall. It is a joy to see so many parents participating each week. Thank you for your help in making this time of worship have a sweet sound.
2026-27 Drop-off & Pick-up Instructions
ARRIVAL: All students and parents are asked to enter the main building through the front doors. Parents may exit through the east and west wings. PARKING LOT FLOW: In an effort to keep the parking lot a safe place for students during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, families are asked to please adhere to the following guidelines and communicate this information to those who will be picking up or dropping off Oaks students.
The parking lot located off of 24th avenue, west of The Oaks main building is designated for student drop-off and pick-up.

- Exit on the east side.
- Remind your children to walk along the edges and not to play in the parking lot.
- Please reference the Parking Lot Flow picture for further details.
Student drivers should park in the lot located off of 22nd avenue, north of the multipurpose building.

PERKS Program
Parents Engaging in Random Acts of Service and Kindness for our Staff
Since 1997, just one year after The Oaks was founded, the PERKS program has been a way for parents to come together and tangibly bless our teachers, faculty, and support staff. This parent-led program shows appreciation throughout the year with prayers, notes, treats, and gifts that remind our staff how valued they are.
Each year, 1 or 2 parents per grammar class (Jr K–6th) sign up to coordinate the PERKS for their child's teacher, which may include traditions such as coordinating Christmas and end-of-year gifts, as well as new ways that would bless the teacher. If this is something you'd like to participate in please use the PERKS Grammar Sign-up(opens in new tab)(opens in new tab) or contact Sophie Donoghue, Oaks parent & Grammar School PERKS coordinator.
The PERKS team also invites families to participate in "Adopt the Staff" snack days. Twice a month, parents may sign up to provide snacks (about 4 dozen) on a designated Thursday, blessing the entire Oaks staff with a little extra joy in their day. If you'd like to participate, please use the PERKS Snacks Sign-up to reserve a spot or reach out directly to Mrs. Marissa Raybould, Oaks parent & PERKS coordinator, with questions.
PERKS is a simple but meaningful way to serve, get to know other families, and bring smiles to those who pour into your children daily. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful program!

September Scripture Memorization
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgement,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Students also have the option to wear the Lands' End crewneck sweatshirts and quarter zip pullovers, which are a part of the everyday uniform policy, all year long. All sweatshirts should be worn with a collared uniform shirt underneath.

Mock Trial Registration Open
Do you like to act? Do you like to argue–respectfully, of course? Then Mock Trial might be for you. Whether you want to step into the courtroom as an attorney or take the stand as a witness, it's fun, it's hard work, and it's one of the best ways to sharpen your mind while competing as a team. Attorney, and Oaks Parent, Mr. Anthony Beattie, will be coaching the Mock Trial Team this year. All who are planning on participating, please be sure to register on Annasis. Before School Protocols
As a reminder, students are asked to remain in the Great Hall prior to the start of the school day until 8:15am (8am on Mondays) unless they are specifically meeting with a teacher, coming for a before-school activity (like private lessons) or putting an instrument in the orchestra room. With students from 4 to 18 years gathered in the Great Hall in the mornings, it provides for a sweet time of fellowship amongst all the grades.
