A Thought To Savor

"No matter how good things get in this world, it's all Egypt! There will never be enough gold chains, fine linen, praise, adoration, or anything else to satisfy the yearning that God has placed in us. Only his presence in the Land of Promise will satisfy his people."
–Voddie Baucham Jr., Joseph and the Gospel of Many Colors: Reading an Old Story in a New Way

Looking for a new devotional? Come Ye Apart: Daily Readings and Thoughts in the Life of Jesus by J.R. Miller is currently available on Kindle free of charge. These short readings provide encouragement as we each seek to become more Christ like in our daily life.

Please stop by the office to pick up your 2022-23 yearbook today. We hope you enjoy this beautiful collection of memories from the previous school year.

Drop-off & Pick-up Instructions

ARRIVAL: All students and parents are asked to enter the new building through the front doors. Parents may exit through the east and west wings. Hallway/classroom doors (including upstairs) will be open at 8:00am Monday and 8:15am Tuesday through Friday. Prior to that time, students and parents may gather in the Great Hall. Logic & Rhetoric students and parents may continue to enter the MP building through the main entry or side doors.

DISMISSAL: Each grammar class will have a marked location for dismissal where parents may pick up their child. Once your child is in your care you are welcome to fellowship in the grassy areas. Students who are not picked up by 3:15pm will be escorted to the office to await their parents arrival.

Parking Instructions

Parents may park in the parking lot previously used for drop off & pick up, just west of the new building. Please do not park in the church's main lot, between the church buildings.

  • Enter the lot on the west side (by Valley Fourth's sanctuary)
  • Exit the lot on the east side (by The Oaks new building)
  • Do not park along the fence on the east side of the lot, facing the new building. These spaces are reserved & will be marked as such shortly.
*For information on acquiring a reserved spot contact Development Director, Mrs. Shelley Moss.

Students driving themselves may park in the previous student parking lot, north of the MP building. Parents, please do not drop-off or pick-up in this lot so that we can ensure adequate parking for students.

Staff parking is located in the gravel lot behind the new building. Parents, please do not drop-off or pick-up in this lot so that we can ensure adequate parking for staff.

Gym Use

This summer The Oaks was blessed to have the gym floor professionally resurfaced for the first time in over 25 years! This includes brand new lines and our very own Oaks logo in the center. We are excited for all to see the fresh new look, which is nothing short of spectacular! In an effort to be good caretakers of this gift and to be able to enjoy it as long as possible, below are a few guidelines for all to be aware of:

  • No shoes may be worn in the gym while playing (except designated PE/court shoes).
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the gym (except for organized events/family nights).
  • Street shoes need to stay outside of the green basketball court lines during events.
  • The gym should not be used as a hallway.
  • All balls should be returned to their respective containers once play has concluded.

When a new floor is put down there are only two coats of wax applied initially. Therefore the floor is more susceptible to damage when it is new and becomes hardier once annual coats of wax are applied and built up over time. Thanks for being good stewards of the kind gifts the Lord has given us with such wonderful facilities!

Regular School Hours

School hours for the 2023-24 school year are 8:30am through 3:00pm, with school beginning at 8:15am on Mondays and concluding at 3:15pm on Fridays. AM kindergarten class hours are 8:30am–12:00pm (beginning at 8:15am on Mondays). Parents are always welcomed & encouraged to attend Cantabile on Mondays (8:15–8:30am) and Fridays (3:00–3:15pm).

Students may be dropped off in the mornings beginning at 8:00am (7:45am on Mondays) and should be picked up no later than 3:15pm (3:30pm on Fridays). Any students on campus outside of these hours must be supervised by their parent or parent designee.

After School Study Hall

From 3:00pm to 4:15pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays a study hall will be available in Mr. Joel Dowers' classroom (#210-upstairs). Students who are still on campus after 3:15 will be directed to study hall. A $25 charge per quarter per student will be applied to Jupiter for those using this study hall. Conservatory students waiting for a lesson may wait in the available chairs in the main foyer on the first floor.

Uniform Notes

While on campus, all Oaks students should wear their uniforms in normal daytime fashion (shirts tucked in, uniform outerwear only, etc.) between 7:45am and 4:00pm.

Beginning Monday, September 25, Oaks hoodies and sports crewneck sweatshirts may be worn with a collared uniform shirt underneath as a part of the everyday uniform.

On formal uniform days, students are asked to not wear puffy coats in class.

Uniform Embroidery

Families who have purchased new navy sweater vests and/or cardigans from Spokane Uniform House or the Dennis website may bring these items into the school office at any time to be exchanged on the spot for the same item with the logo already on it. The embroidery cost is $5.95 (tax included) per item. If you have a uniform item that is not embroidered you may bring it to the school office to be included in the next batch sent out for embroidery. You will be notified when it is ready & charged accordingly at that time.

Uniform Closet

Families are welcome to stop by the uniform closet anytime to find a gently used uniform item that may be available for your child. The closet is also stocked with items such as belts, ties, socks, tights, etc. which are often immediate needs on formal uniform days. A charge of $5 per item procured will be applied to your Jupiter account to help cover costs associated with the maintenance & upkeep of this shared space.

Background Checks for Parent Volunteers

We are so thankful for the many volunteers we have at The Oaks. It is such a joy to see our community serving one another. This year we are asking all parents (or grandparents) who are planning to volunteer in the classroom, chaperone a field trip, or serve on campus with students in any capacity to please complete the Volunteer/Chaperone Background Check form available in Jupiter prior to serving. This background check will be good for any volunteering you do at The Oaks for 2 years. Thank you!

PE Class

All grammar students, kindergarten through 6th grade will be participating in PE weekly. PE will be held outside as often as the weather allows. When PE is outside students will be wearing their school shoes. Therefore, please consider having your child wear tennis shoes on PE days to help extend the life of their formal shoes. When PE is indoors each student will wear their P.E./Gym shoes (left at school). These shoes do not need to be purchased brand new, but if they have been worn outside they should be washed thoroughly, removing any rocks or small particulates that may scratch the new gym floor. Please refer to your child's supply list for further details.

PERKS Program
Parents Engaged in Regular Acts of Kindness Toward our Staff

In 1997, one year after The Oaks was founded, a group of moms looking to do something tangible on a regular basis to bless teachers, faculty, and support staff founded the PERKS program, a voluntary parent-led program that shows appreciation by providing Oaks staff with prayers, notes, treats, and gifts throughout the year. The PERKS program has been running ever since and all families are invited to get involved! It is a great way to get to know teachers and parents, and bring a smile to our staff's faces. Each year 1 or 2 parents per class sign up to coordinate the PERKS for their child's teacher, which may include traditions such as coordinating Christmas and end-of-year gifts, as well as new ways that would bless the teacher. If this is something you'd like to participate in please  use the PERKS parent Sign-up to sign up or to contact Sophie Donoghue, Grammar School PERKS coordinator. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful program!

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgement,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
