A Thought To Savor
"Christians ought to be the hardest workers on earth. Children of God should strive to accomplish great things in the name of the Lord. We should be visionaries and entrepreneurs. We should make radical plans and build bigger, better, more beautiful things. We've been placed by the Creator of heaven and earth to be the resident managers of his planet. We're meant to steward the creation, enhance its beauty, protect it from the danger of wickedness, and in all of this, bring glory to the name of the Lord. Human beings are achievers, meant to build and rebuild, to grow and expand, to uproot and to plant, to tear down and to build, to dream and to achieve dreams.
Psalm 115 says, 'May the Lord give you increase, you and your children! May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth! The heavens are the Lord's heavens, but the earth he has given to the children of man' (vv.14–16). We should never be satisfied; we should always be looking to increase our productivity, growth, and success. We should never be passive, because forces of wickedness will look to destroy and erode what God has called us to build, protect, and preserve. There will always be more work to do, so we must never stop working hard!"

Regular Cantabile Resumes Fri., Sept. 19
What a joy it will be to sing all together in the Great Hall once again this year! The Oaks will continue our tradition of beginning and ending each week with Cantabile this year (Mondays at 8:15am and Fridays at 3pm). With the half-day and all-school picnic on our first Friday and Convocation on the first Monday, we will officially begin Cantabile in the Great Hall on Friday, September 19 at 3pm.
Additional Fall Play Auditions (6–12th grades)
Mon. & Tues., Sept. 22 & 23 [12:35pm]
Much Ado About Nothing is almost cast, but now a handful of 6th graders are being sought to help out! Auditions will take place in two short sessions on Monday and Tuesday, September 22 and 23 during lunch. There are 6 to 8 roles that need to be filled, some with a few lines and others without lines. No preparation needed to audition. Just come with a smile, ready to have fun!
Are you a Logic or Rhetoric student who missed the boat? Afraid you can't fit it into a busy schedule? Find Miss Hartke or Mr. Eyestone anytime before Wednesday to talk through the options. You might just be able to have your cake and eat it too...
Formal Fridays Begin Sept. 26
Once again this year Fridays will be our weekly formal uniform day. Grammar School P.E. classes will take place Monday through Thursday during the school year, making Fridays a perfect day for formal clothing. There will be a few exceptions to this through out the year that will be announced here, on the school news page.
Fall Play Parent Meeting - Mon., Sept. 29 [4:45–5:15pm]
On Monday, September 29 there will be a mandatory Parent/Cast Meeting in the Orchestra Room from 4:45 to 5:15pm. All cast members and at least one parent should plan to attend this important informational meeting.

Lost & Found – Thurs., Sept. 25
*Please label everything! We want to reunite you with your items.
Lost & found items will be set out on Thursday. Please stop by to see if anything belongs to your family. All unclaimed items, except uniforms, will be donated at the end of the day. Thank you to all who come by the office to find missing belongings prior to them being placed out. We appreciate your help in keeping the lost & found pile low.
Last Chance for Embroidery - drop off by Fri., Sept. 26

PERKS Program
Parents Engaging in Random Acts of Service and Kindness for our Staff
Since 1997, just one year after The Oaks was founded, the PERKS program has been a way for parents to come together and tangibly bless our teachers, faculty, and support staff. This parent-led program shows appreciation throughout the year with prayers, notes, treats, and gifts that remind our staff how valued they are.
Each year, 1 or 2 parents per grammar class (Jr K–6th) sign up to coordinate the PERKS for their child's teacher, which may include traditions such as coordinating Christmas and end-of-year gifts, as well as new ways that would bless the teacher. If this is something you'd like to participate in please use the PERKS Grammar Sign-up or contact Sophie Donoghue, Oaks parent & Grammar School PERKS coordinator.
This year, in addition to class PERKS Parents (thank you for those who have already signed up), the PERKS team is also inviting families to participate in "Adopt the Staff" snack days. Twice a month, parents may sign up to provide snacks (about 4 dozen) on a designate Thursday, blessing the entire Oaks staff with a little extra joy in their day. If you'd like to participate, please use the PERKS Snacks Sign-up to reserve a spot or reach out directly to Mrs. Marissa Raybould, Oaks parent & PERKS coordinator, with questions.
PERKS is a simple but meaningful way to serve, get to know other families, and bring smiles to those who pour into your children daily. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful program!

September Scripture Memorization
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgement,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
