A Thought To Savor
"Remember, it is not your weakness that will get in the way of God's working through you, but your delusions of strength. His strength is made perfect in our weakness! Point to His strength by being willing to admit your weakness."
– Paul David Tripp

PERKS Program
Parents Engaging in Random Acts of Service and Kindness for our Staff
Since 1997, just one year after The Oaks was founded, the PERKS program has been a way for parents to come together and tangibly bless our teachers, faculty, and support staff. This parent-led program shows appreciation throughout the year with prayers, notes, treats, and gifts that remind our staff how valued they are.
Each year, 1 or 2 parents per grammar class (Jr K–6th) sign up to coordinate the PERKS for their child's teacher, which may include traditions such as coordinating Christmas and end-of-year gifts, as well as new ways that would bless the teacher. If this is something you'd like to participate in please use the PERKS Grammar Sign-up or contact Sophie Donoghue, Oaks parent & Grammar School PERKS coordinator.
This year, in addition to class PERKS Parents (thank you for those who have already signed up), the PERKS team is also inviting families to participate in "Adopt the Staff" snack days. Twice a month, parents may sign up to provide snacks (about 4 dozen) on designated Thursdays, blessing the entire Oaks staff with a little extra joy in their day. If you'd like to participate, please use the PERKS Snacks Sign-up to reserve a spot or reach out directly to Mrs. Marissa Raybould, Oaks parent & PERKS coordinator, with questions.
PERKS is a simple but meaningful way to serve, get to know other families, and bring smiles to those who pour into your children daily. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful program!

Logic & Rhetoric Schools
AP Exam Registration
Due by Fri., Oct. 31
High school students have the opportunity to take the Advanced Placement exam this May at The Oaks. For some colleges, students can receive college credit for passing an AP exam, scoring a "3" and above (on a 1–5 scale). This will enable a student to waive the equivalent college course during freshman year (Freshman English Composition, for example). So, for those participating colleges, passing an AP exam will save money (and time) in the long run. Each university handles the AP credit differently; you will want to check out a specific college to understand how they treat AP exam scores.
Register through Annasis by Friday, October 31. Please read the AP Exam Information for further details and contact Mrs. Lynn Gibson with any questions.

October Scripture Memorization
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said:
"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!"
And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.
So I said:
"Woe is me, for I am undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The Lord of hosts."
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said:
"Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged."
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
"Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?"
Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."
