A Thought To Savor

Greetings!

Thank you all for making the start of this school year a continued living testimony that God is good and He does good!

We have the opportunity coming up here shortly to share this goodness with one another...and that is during Parent Teacher Conferences. These meetings are about relationships. Parent–Teacher partnership is key at our school. In order to have a growing relationship with your child's teacher, Parent Teacher Conferences are a near requirement.

Grammar School Parent Teacher conferences are mandatory. In Logic and Rhetoric school, I want to encourage you to view these conferences almost the same way, as mandatory for you, for the sake of growing your relationship with the teachers. Whether your child is doing great or struggling, a Parent–Teacher Conference in October is essential to building that relationship.

Sign-ups come out next week. I look forward to seeing our building full October 15–17!

God Bless,

Charlie Dowers
Head of School

AP Exam Registration
Due by Fri., Oct. 31

High school students have the opportunity to take the Advanced Placement exam this May at The Oaks. For some colleges, students can receive college credit for passing an AP exam, scoring a "3" and above (on a 1–5 scale). This will enable a student to waive the equivalent college course during freshman year (Freshman English Composition, for example). So, for those participating colleges, passing an AP exam will save money (and time) in the long run. Each university handles the AP credit differently; you will want to check out a specific college to understand how they treat AP exam scores.

Register through Annasis by Friday, October 31. Please read the AP Exam Information for further details and contact Mrs. Lynn Gibson with any questions.

October Scripture Memorization

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said:

"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!"

And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

So I said:

"Woe is me, for I am undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The Lord of hosts."

Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said:

"Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged."

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

"Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?"

Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."
