Friday Pizza Lunch Returns in Nov. – Ordering Begins Next Week
*Orders must be placed by Oct. 31 for Nov.

Friday pizza lunch is an opportunity many families enjoy every year! It's a chance for parents to take a break from packing lunches and for kids to enjoy a special treat with friends. Families have the opportunity to order 1–3 slices of pizza for their child with or without sides. We are excited to announce that Friday, November 7 will be the 1st pizza lunch of the 2025-26 school year. Starting this year, Friday pizza hot lunch orders will be placed monthly through Events on Annasis with orders being due by the last day of the month for the following month. November and December orders will be available next week. A reminder will go out in the school news each month as the due date approaches.

To place your order:

  • Go to Events in Annasis and search for Pizza Lunch (beginning next week).
  • Follow the order process for each child individually.
  • Hot lunch helpers will check off orders as students pick up their lunch each Friday.

Additional Notes:

  • All orders must be submitted by last day of the month prior. The orders will be closed after this time. We will notify you, on this news page, when the due date is approaching.

Those who are interested in helping with this endeavor please sign-up using the links below. Please contact Kristen Bailey with any questions.

Uniform Highlights: Purpose

This school year we are highlighting different parts of The Oaks' uniform policy each week. This week we'll look at the purpose of the the school uniform. As such we'd like to encourage and remind students to wear the uniform as it is designed to be worn. Uniforms shirts should be tucked in and fully buttoned with the sleeves unrolled. Shorts and skirts should be appropriately sized for the wearer, not too fitted or too short, and waist bands should not be rolled up.

"The purpose of the school uniform is to foster a sense of unity, to provide a consistently attractive and neat appearance for all students, to avoid peer pressure in matters of dress, and to use attire as a means of uplifting the values of truth, goodness, and beauty in our community. Parents and students are responsible for reading the uniform information, familiarizing themselves with the policy, and embracing its purpose.

The Oaks is a workplace for students as well as for teachers. Students should dress in a way to demonstrate their respect and honor for the school uniform policy."

The full purpose section is found in the opening of the Uniform Policy.

Please click on the event name to see a sign-up sheet for that particular event. Please contact Beth with any questions.

Guests on Campus

When visiting or volunteering, all parents, grandparents, and guests, are asked to please sign in at the front office whenever on campus. This is a helpful way to keep The Oaks safe for all, and the office ladies love welcoming visitors. Classroom volunteers should also have an up-to-date background check on file (good for two years). This form can be found on the parent portal of your Annasis account.

The School News Archive button (at the top of each week's news page) gives you access to all past news pages. If you missed something or need to access a past link you can always click on this button and look back over the previous news pages to find the information.

Grammar School

Please refer to your child's Weekly Letter for class specific information.

Absentee Reminders

When your child is home sick, please notify his teacher and the school office prior to 10am. Grammar teachers will gather school work throughout the day and have it available in the classroom after school to be picked up by a parent or sibling. It's extremely helpful for students to keep up on their school work as much as they are able while home sick and the teachers are eager to help keep your child on track while missing a day or two.

Recess: Rain or Shine

Rain or shine students go out for recess! Flood or blizzard brewing, they may consider staying inside. All joking aside, please note that your child will go outside for recess whenever possible and a little rain won't ruin their fresh air fun!

Junior Kindergarten:

White Slips/Check-out Forms

Logic and Rhetoric students leaving campus mid class (as opposed to between class periods or at lunch) are asked to please communicate their departure with the appropriate teacher prior to the start of class, ideally before or after school or at lunch. The teacher will give the student a White Slip/Check-out Form and the student is then free to quietly slip out of class at the appropriate time to head to the office to check out and turn in the White Slip/Check-out Form. Thank you for your help as we seek to improve our processes.

Absentee School Work

If your child is home sick, please call the school office prior to 10am. For Logic & Rhetoric students, the secretaries will send a request for school work to each of your child's teachers. The teachers will then send you and your child any work they missed that day through Annasis. It is helpful for your child to stay caught up on school work to the best of their ability while home sick, as it will ease the transition when they are healthy and back at school. The office and the teachers are eager to help you make it a little easier.

Hallways at Lunch

Students, please remember that lunches are to be eaten either in a classroom or outside rather than the hallways or on carpeted areas in the main building. Keeping food to the designated areas is a simple way to keep our facilities nice for everyone. Thank you!

Oaks Hoodies

Secondary students (7–12th grade) may wear their Oaks hoodies during the school day as a part of their everyday uniforms. Students also have the option to wear the Lands' End crewneck sweatshirts and quarter zip pullovers, which are a part of the everyday uniform policy. All sweatshirts should be worn with a collared uniform shirt underneath.

AP Exam Registration
Due by Fri., Oct. 31

High school students have the opportunity to take the Advanced Placement exam this May at The Oaks. For some colleges, students can receive college credit for passing an AP exam, scoring a "3" and above (on a 1–5 scale). This will enable a student to waive the equivalent college course during freshman year (Freshman English Composition, for example). So, for those participating colleges, passing an AP exam will save money (and time) in the long run. Each university handles the AP credit differently; you will want to check out a specific college to understand how they treat AP exam scores.

Register through Annasis by Friday, October 31. Please read the AP Exam Information for further details and contact Mrs. Lynn Gibson with any questions.

October Scripture Memorization

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said:

"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!"

And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

So I said:

"Woe is me, for I am undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The Lord of hosts."

Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said:

"Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged."

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

"Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?"

Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."
