A Thought To Savor
"Whatever man may stand, whatever he may do, to whatever he may apply his hand - in agriculture, in commerce, and in industry, or his mind, in the world of art, and science - he is, in whatsoever it may be, constantly standing before the face of God. He is employed in the service of his God. He has strictly to obey his God. And above all, he has to aim at the glory of his God." – Abraham Kuyper

UGM Food Drive - House Competition
Donate between now & Nov. 22
House Muller is excited to host a school-wide Food Drive to stock the Union Gospel Mission for the year ahead. There are currently 5 donation barrels in the main building, one for each house--Boethius, Muller, Lewis, Augustine, and Wilberforce. Whenever a house's barrel is filled it will be emptied and a circle will be filled in on the competition chart. The house with the most completed circles at the end of the two weeks will win the competition! Grammar students with siblings or cousins in the Logic & Rhetoric Schools will want to donate to their family's house as future members of that house. Those who don't yet know what house they will be in are welcome to donate to their teacher's house.
Boethius - Mrs. Holland, Mr. Langerak
Muller - Mrs. Rickert, Mrs. Shanklin, Mrs. Hvattum
Lewis - Mrs. Jones, Mr. Kimball, Mrs. Kimball
Augustine - Mrs. Coe, Mrs. Kimm
Wilberforce - Mr. Kolarsky, Mr. & Mrs. Szymanowski, Miss Mewes
This is a fun opportunity for competition and generosity! Let's see how many barrels we can fill!
"The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself."
-Proverbs 11:25
Thanksgiving Break - Nov. 25–29 (No School)

Please join us for this exciting production featuring a cast of 36 student actors, men's & children's choirs, bell choir, and orchestra! Tickets for A Christmas Carol are now available for purchase, here on the website.
Uniform Reminder: Love in the Little Things
As Picture Day and the Christmas Concert approach it is helpful to take special notice of your child's uniforms. With eight weeks of school under our belt here are a few reminders: Gentlemen should be wearing belts, Secondary ladies (6–12th) are now wearing black/dark navy knee high socks or tights with their formal uniform, all should wear dark soled formal shoes, and Gentlemen should wear dress socks (not athletic socks) with their formal uniform. If you haven't done so lately, please take a moment to review the uniform policy. Taking a moment to check these little things is a great way to love our community!

Northwest ACCS Choral Festival - Fri., Nov. 8
*9–12th grade participating 8:30am through conclusion of 6:30pm concert
The Northwest ACCS Choral Festival is right around the corner on Friday, November 8th! Oaks 9–12th grade students will have the privilege of hosting students from other regional ACCS schools for this day of fellowship and music making which will begin at 8:30am and culminate in a concert at 6:30 in the evening. Both lunch and dinner will be provided for the day and shared with all attending schools. Not only will students participate in the mass choir, but they will also have the honor of presenting a piece as an individual choir for the evening's concert. This event is a beautiful opportunity for our students to practice hospitality and grow in their love for God's people and His worship through song. We anticipate that all 9–12th grade students will enjoy hosting the entire day! In fact, The Oaks considers this a mandatory event. Please reach out to Mrs. Amy Kim if you have questions.
*Student Details
Here are a few details to help your child navigate the day:
- School Day: Oaks 9–12th grade students should plan for a regular school-day arrival and to stay until the completion of the concert which begins at 6:30pm.
- Meals: Oaks students will be sharing a provided lunch and dinner with the other festival participants as a time of great fellowship.
- Uniforms: During the day, students may wear their everyday uniforms, but have their formal uniforms ready to change into before the evening concert. Rooms will be assigned for students to change in, as well as to stow extra belongings.
- Personal Items: With so many people on campus, please limit personal belongings as much as possible–for this day, clearly labeled disposable water bottles will be best.
We are looking forward to celebrating God's goodness to us through the gift of worship in song!
AP Exam Registration - Due by Nov. 10
High school students have the opportunity to take the Advanced Placement exam this May at The Oaks. For some colleges, students can receive college credit for passing an AP exam, scoring a "3" and above (on a 1–5 scale). This will enable a student to waive the equivalent college course during freshman year (Freshman English Composition, for example). So, for those participating colleges, passing an AP exam will save money (and time) in the long run. Each university handles AP credit differently; you will want to check out a specific college to understand how they treat AP exam scores. To register, log into your Jupiter parent portal, go to Forms and select AP Exam Registration. Once your registration is processed, the exam fee will be applied to your Jupiter account and may be paid by cash or check in the school office or via credit card through Jupiter. Registration is due by Sunday, November 10, with payment due by December 1. Please read the AP Exam Information for further details and contact Mrs. Lynn Gibson with any questions.
College Brown Bag Lunches
High school students, 9–12th grades, are welcome to participate in the annual College Brown Bag Lunch Series. The College Brown Bag Lunch Flyer shows the complete schedule. Questions? Email Mrs. Lynn Gibson.

November Scripture Memorization
Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
