A Thought To Savor

"The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope." – Timothy Keller

UGM Food Drive - House Competition
Donate between now & Nov. 22

House Muller is excited to host a school-wide Food Drive to stock the Union Gospel Mission for the year ahead. There are currently 5 donation barrels in the main building, one for each house--Boethius, Muller, Lewis, Augustine, and Wilberforce. Whenever a house's barrel is filled it will be emptied and a circle will be filled in on the competition chart. The house with the most completed circles at the end of the two weeks will win the competition! Grammar students with siblings or cousins in the Logic & Rhetoric Schools will want to donate to their family's house as future members of that house. Those who don't yet know what house they will be in are welcome to donate to their teacher's house.

Boethius - Mrs. Holland, Mr. Langerak
Muller - Mrs. Rickert, Mrs. Shanklin, Mrs. Hvattum
Lewis - Mrs. Jones, Mr. Kimball, Mrs. Kimball
Augustine - Mrs. Coe, Mrs. Kimm
Wilberforce - Mr. Kolarsky, Mr. & Mrs. Szymanowski, Miss Mewes

This is a fun opportunity for competition and generosity! Let's see how many barrels we can fill!

"The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself."
-Proverbs 11:25

*Christmas Sock Days - Fri., Dec. 6, 13, & 20

Christmas Concert at The Fox - Tues., Dec. 17 [6:45pm]

*REHEARSAL DETAILS - Please Read Carefully & Respond Accordingly
***Transportation Forms Due by Fri., Dec. 6***

During the school day on Tuesday, December 17, the entire student body will be rehearsing at The Fox Theater for that evening's concert. Below is pertinent information for the day's rehearsal. Please read this information carefully and respond accordingly.

ATTIRE: Students are to be in uniform. Formal uniforms are not required for the rehearsal.

WHAT TO BRING: Students should bring the following items and nothing extra (no backpacks, textbooks, lunch boxes, etc.)

  • Car Seat - If your child requires a car seat and will be riding home with someone other than the person who dropped them off, please leave a clearly labeled car seat with your child at drop-off.
  • Instruments - Students who are playing an instrument in the concert will need to bring their instrument with them to rehearsal and leave it at The Fox until the evening's performance. Instruments should be clearly labeled.
  • School Supplies - Secondary students will receive instructions from their teachers on what study items to bring. Grammar students' materials will be provided for them by their teachers. Please do not bring backpacks, etc.

DROP-OFF [8:30 AM]

  • All students will enter through Doors A & B (see attachment). Parents may pull up to the curb along 1st Ave. or Sprague Ave. to drop off your child. Oaks staff will escort students into the theater. The rehearsal day has been shortened and we are therefore asking that everyone please make every effort to be prompt in your arrival so that we may begin rehearsing right away.

PICK-UP [1:00pm]

  • K–5th grade only carpools - exit SE doors, Door B (see attachment)
  • Mixed & 6–12th grade only carpools - exit NE doors, Door A (see attachment)

Each student will check out with an Oaks staff member and exit at the predetermined door. It is extremely important that this process is organized so that every student is accounted for. Therefore, each family must complete the Christmas at The Fox: Rehearsal Transportation form on Jupiter for each of your children no later than Friday, December 6. The information you provide on the transportation form determines where your child will be picked up at the end of the rehearsal.

Please note that student drivers must bring money to park in a nearby public lot (no metered parking permitted). The theater's west parking lot is NOT available for student parking.

Uniform Reminder: Love in the Little Things

As Picture Day and the Christmas Concert approach it is helpful to take special notice of your child's uniforms. With eight weeks of school under our belt here are a few reminders: gentlemen should be wearing belts, secondary ladies (6–12th) are now wearing black/dark navy knee high socks or tights with their formal uniform, all should wear dark soled formal shoes, and gentlemen should wear dress socks (not athletic socks) with their formal uniform. If you haven't done so lately, please take a moment to review the uniform policy. Taking a moment to check these little things is a great way to love our community!

November Scripture Memorization

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
