A Thought To Savor

"As Christians we are reconciled with God and united with Christ. To understand that doctrine is to be reconciled with one another. This is a major emphasis in all the Bible's teaching about forgiving one another as God has foriven us."
– John Mac Arthur

Junior Class Flower Basket Sale - Orders Due Mon., Mar. 31
* Funds help offset individual students' cost for Grand Tour trip

The Oaks' junior class will be traveling to Greece and Italy this summer for the Grand Tour field trip. A significant portion of the cost of this trip is covered by the school, while each student's family pays the remaining balance. Therefore, just in time for Mother's Day, these students are selling gorgeous hanging flower baskets for $40 each to help offset this cost. These baskets are locally grown with a variety of flowers (trailing petunias, Impomoea, Bidens, Scaveola, Lobelia) and color combinations (see examples). These hanging baskets can also be easily converted to a planter for patio or walkway use. If you wish to purchase a basket, an order form will be available in the school office (or ask a junior) through Monday, March 31. Payment must be made at the time of ordering and can be made via check (payable to The Oaks) or cash. Flowers will be delivered to The Oaks the week prior to Mother's Day (specific day TBD). The junior class (along with their parents) thank you for your support!

Senior Thesis Presentations - April 4–5
*Updated Schedule

The seniors are presenting and defending their theses the evening of Friday, April 4 and morning of Saturday, April 5. All are welcome to attend these presentations. Please see the attached schedule for a complete listing of times and topics. The schedule is also available on The Oaks' Google calendar.

2025 Senior Thesis Presentations

Thesis Etiquette

With the Seniors' Thesis Presentations upon the horizon, it's a good time to discuss thesis etiquette for those in attendance. A few notes to keep in mind are:

  • Be timely: Please remain seated during the presentation. If arriving late, please wait until the presentation is finished to enter the room.
  • Be considerate: Please keep distractions to a minimum. This includes turning off cell phones, taking noisy young children out of the room quickly and discreetly, and not going in and out of the room (except in case of emergency or a noisy child).
  • Be prepared: Some students have been asked to take notes about the theses they watch and should come prepared to do so.

Thank you for loving our seniors well by attending these presentations in which they have prepared so diligently for and for showing them the courtesy and respect they deserve during their presentations.

Senior Thesis Request for Help

With Senior Thesis Presentations just around the corner, Rhetoric Teacher, Mr. Matt Chastain is requesting help from our Oaks families. If you are willing and able to help with judging and/or technical support please contact Mr. Chastain.

  • Judging: Three judges are needed for each thesis. Judging consists of (1) asking a few questions to the students after their speech and (2) giving feedback to the advisor to assist the advisor in grading. More detailed information, including tips for asking good questions, will be gladly provided to anyone interested. If you would like to judge, please let Mr. Chastain know the times and topics you prefer.
  • Audience: We would love to have you as a guest at the thesis presentations to hear the many interesting topics the seniors have prepared. You and your child will have the opportunity to see where younger Oaks students are heading. This is the culmination of the rhetoric training and overall education at The Oaks, and the seniors would be honored to have a good size audience.
  • Technical Support: The speeches will be recorded and shared with the students' families. Help recording the speeches would be greatly appreciated. Please let Mr. Chastain know if you are able to assist.

Thank you for supporting our seniors!

March Scripture Memorization

I will lift up my eyes to the hills –
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and
your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

- Psalm 121
