The seniors are presenting and defending their theses the evening of Friday, March 27 and morning of Saturday, March 28. All are welcome and encouraged to attend these presentations. Please see the attached schedule for a complete listing of times and topics. The schedule is also available on The Oaks' Google calendar.
2026 Senior Thesis Presentations
Request for Help
With Senior Thesis Presentations just around the corner, Rhetoric Teacher, Mr. Matt Chastain is requesting help from our Oaks families. If you are willing and able to help with judging and/or technical support please contact Mr. Chastain.
- Judging: Three judges are needed for each thesis. Judging consists of (1) asking a few questions to the students after their speech and (2) giving feedback to the advisor to assist the advisor in grading. More detailed information, including tips for asking good questions, will be gladly provided to anyone interested. If you would like to judge, please let Mr. Chastain know the times and topics you prefer.
- Audience: We would love to have you as a guest at the thesis presentations to hear the many interesting topics the seniors have prepared. You and your child will have the opportunity to see where younger Oaks students are heading. This is the culmination of the rhetoric training and overall education at The Oaks, and the seniors would be honored to have a good size audience.
- Technical Support: The speeches will be recorded and shared with the students' families. Help recording the speeches would be greatly appreciated. Please let Mr. Chastain know if you are able to assist.
Audience Etiquette
The Seniors have worked diligently and your attendance at their Thesis presentations is a great encouragement to them. As we seek to bless them in our attendance, here are few etiquette reminders that will help ensure we are being an attentive, courteous audience.
- Be Timely: Please remain seated during the thesis presentation. Late arrivals should wait to enter the room until the presentation is completed. Entering and exiting the room is a distraction to both the presenter and other audience members.
- Be Considerate: Please minimize distractions. Cell phones should be turned off and noisy young children should be taken out of the room quickly and discreetly. Please do not go in and out during a thesis (except in the case of emergency or noisy child issues).
Thank you for supporting our seniors! The seniors and the faculty will be partaking in a celebratory lunch following the last theses on Saturday. Please note that this lunch is for the seniors and their teachers only.

* Funds help offset individual students' cost for Grand Tour trip
The Oaks' junior class will be traveling to Greece and Italy this summer for the Grand Tour field trip. A significant portion of the cost of this trip is covered by the school, while each student's family pays the remaining balance. Therefore, just in time for Mother's Day, these students are selling gorgeous hanging flower baskets for $40 each to help offset this cost. These baskets are locally grown with a variety of flowers (trailing petunias, Ipomoea, Bidens, Scaveola, Lobelia) and color combinations (see examples). These hanging baskets can also be easily converted to a planter for patio or walkway use. If you wish to purchase a basket, an order form will be available in the school office (or ask a junior) through Thursday, April 2. Payment must be made at the time of ordering and can be made via check (payable to The Oaks) or cash. Flowers will be delivered to The Oaks the week prior to Mother's Day on Saturday, May 2. The junior class (along with their parents) thank you for your support!
No School Good Friday - Apr. 3

Part-time Handyman Position Available
The Oaks is looking for a part-time handyman to support the daily care of our campus. This role is typically 3–4 hours per day, totaling approximately 15–20 hours per week, with some flexibility for the right fit. This is primarily a maintenance role, helping ensure that our classrooms and common spaces are orderly, functional, and well cared for. The work includes small repairs and practical support for teachers, such as adjusting desks, hanging pictures, replacing HVAC filters, addressing minor facility needs, occasional vacuuming, and spot-cleaning when needed. We are looking for someone who is dependable, takes initiative and quiet pride in doing things well, and contributes to The Oaks culture through their work. If you or someone you know may be a good fit, please reach out to our facilities manager, Mr. Colin Williams.
Official Coffee Shop & Library Openings Coming Soon!
Sign a Library Guidelines Disclaimer for each child to be ready to check out books
The official openings of The Oaks Coffee Shop & Library are just around the corner. The Oaks' brand new espresso machine has arrived and training is underway. The books are almost all cataloged and volunteer librarians are being arranged. Thank you for your patience as the library has been closed and our volunteer librarians have been ensuring all is ready for students to begin checking out books prior to Spring Break. Library Study Hours will begin Monday, March 30 and Grammar classes will begin library etiquette lessons shortly thereafter.
In preparation, any student planning to check out books must have the Library Guidelines Disclaimer, available in Annasis, signed by a parent. By signing this disclaimer, an account will be created for that child and he will be ready to check out books when the library is officially open. Please also read the Library Guidelines that will be available in the Family Handbook in the near future. What a blessing to be able to officially open these spaces soon and use them as they were designed.

Spring Cleaning – Uniform Refresh
As spring approaches and students start swapping their cold weather items for warmer weather clothes, it's a great time to check your child's uniform to ensure it is fitting properly and in good condition. If you notice pants or skirts are getting short or sleeves are a little too high on the arm, remember you can use the Uniform Swap on Annasis to sell those too small items and shop for appropriately sized pieces. The office also maintains a used uniform closet where you are welcome to shop ($5 per item) or donate items. Just be sure to reference the Uniform Policy whenever selling, donating, or purchasing to ensure the items are current.
No Oaks Athletic Sweatshirts This Spring
On non-formal uniform days this fall/winter Oaks students have had the opportunity to wear their Athletic & Mock Trial Oaks hoodies and crew necks during the school day. As we head into spring, these Oaks sweatshirts are no longer acceptable uniform items during the school day. Please note, that the Lands' End crewneck sweatshirt is an acceptable uniform item throughout the school year.

March Scripture Memory
Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes,
And I shall keep it to the end.
Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law;
Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Make me walk in the path of Your commandments,
For I delight in it.
Incline my heart to your testimonies,
And not to covetousness.
Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things,
And revive me in Your way.
Establish Your word to Your servant,
Who is devoted to fearing You.
Turn away my reproach which I dread,
For Your judgments are good.
Behold, I long for Your precepts;
Revive me in Your righteousness.
