Parent Education Corner
It's in our mission statement to graduate classically educated students who "shape culture." But what does this mean? In The Real Scandal of the Evangelical Mind, Carl Trueman writes, "If the church as a whole is losing it's ability to be 'Salt and Light' in the culture, it's not because its members have no opinion of the films of Bernardo Bertolucci, no appreciation for the poetry of Emily Dickinson, and no regular slot on The Charlie Rose Show. More likely, it is because they do not have a solid grasp of the basic elements of the faith, as taught in Scripture and affirmed by the confessions and catechisms of the church." This is how we are "salt and light." This is how we engage and shape culture, not by sending our kids out into the mission field but by handing on to the next generation a "solid grasp of the basic elements of the faith, as taught in Scripture and affirmed by the confessions and catechisms of the church."

JUNE SCRIPTURE MEMORIZATION
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.
