Christmas Concert at The Fox – A Gift of Joy!
We do hope you had the great joy of watching The Oaks Christmas Concert, either in person at The Fox or via livestream! It was thoroughly delightful, beautiful, and soul-encouraging, thanks in great part to our extraordinary directress and directors, Mrs. Amy Kim, Mr. Gary Woodroof, and Mr. Tobin Eyestone. Their diligent, faithful efforts have resulted in edified students and kind gifts to all of us, for which we thank them profusely. The Oaks family is blessed that God has encouraged them to share their talents with us. Joyous Christmas!

Clarification Re: Rain/Snow Boots for Grammar Students
As the weather is often rainy (and hopefully snowy soon!) many grammar students are wearing or bringing rain/snow boots for recess. We are so thankful for these great shoes that keep our feet dry and warm in these winter months! As we seek to maintain our school's uniform policy here are a few notes of clarification in regards to boots.
- Boots should be solid-colored black, brown, navy, grey, or white if worn all day on a regular uniform day.
- Boots worn only for recess may be any color, but students must have proper uniform shoes for indoor wear.
- Boots may not be worn on formal uniform days, but may be brought for recess.
Please see the complete Uniform Policy for further footwear details (pg. 2, 7, & 9).

Protocol Attire
Formal attire (also known as black tie) is more formal than business attire and slightly less formal than white tie. It is the most common formal dress code for events such as weddings, balls, formal dinners, and theatre.
When choosing your attire for this event, please be mindful of modesty and show preference to others. This event is designed to be a blessing for all in attendance. Thinking of others when making your clothing selections helps to ensure a beautiful evening.
- Ladies - formal, floor length evening gown or ball gown skirt (full coverage, closed back, preferably with sleeves-if wide strapped must be covered with a wrap; nothing revealing, strapless, or with high slits); simple, non-dangly jewelry; dress shoes; dress wrap or jacket - Ladies' Protocol Attire Ideas
- Gentlemen - suit in a dark color, white shirt, and traditional bow tie or tuxedo (dark vest with suit jacket, pocket squares, cufflinks, and shirt studs are all acceptable); dark dress socks and dress shoes (no tennis shoes); no gloves, hats, or sunglasses. - Gentlemen's Protocol Attire Ideas
Winter Ball Gown Closet
The Protocol team is hosting a winter ball gown exchange that offers FREE BALL GOWNS AND WRAPS to Rhetoric School ladies looking for a lovely dress for the upcoming Winter Ball. Families who would like to donate a modest formal gown (floor length only for the winter ball) or dress wrap/jacket may do so by bringing it to the clothing rack inside the girls locker room next to the showers. The gown or wrap you donate is freely offered to any young lady in grades 10–12. If the gown fits, it's hers to keep (or donate back)! We hope this is a blessing to the giver and receiver alike. Please contact Mrs. Teri Woodroof if you have any questions.

FAFSA Update From Mrs. Gibson, Director of College & Career Counseling
Parents of college-going seniors and/or current college students: As you probably know, FAFSA has undergone an upgrade delaying filing until December 31, 2023. Parents of college-going seniors and/or current college students are encouraged to file your FAFSA as soon as possible so colleges can begin working on your child's financial aid award offer. To get started, parents and students will need to create a FSA ID username and password. The student and at least one parent need an FSA ID to complete the FAFSA. Your FSA IDs must be setup and verified BEFORE filing the FAFSA. The confirmation process to create your FSA ID can take up to a week so it is suggested not to delay. Parents and students who already have an FSA ID (from last year's filing) will NOT need to get a new one. Further explanation of the new changes to the FAFSA are available here. Please contact Mrs. Gibson if you have specific FAFSA questions. She has several resources to offer.

Lands' End School Starboard Scholarship (due 1/19/24)
And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"
