The use of AI for students at The Oaks short-circuits the cultivation of skills and the sequence of our curriculum. Please take a moment to read the statement as we head into the 2nd semester. This will be added to the Family Handbook soon.

January Scripture Memorization
Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgements which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land in which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the Lord your God to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you–'a land flowing with milk and honey.'
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Rhetoric School Semester Testing - Wed.–Fri., Jan. 29–31
Early Dismissal Permission Forms due by Mon., Jan. 27 [3:30pm]
Once again this year Rhetoric students (grades 10–12) will have an altered schedule to accommodate semester tests during the last three days of the term (Wed.–Fri., Jan. 28–31). On these days, Rhetoric students may arrive at school when their assessments begin and may leave once their commitments are completed, provided that their parents have completed the Early Dismissal Permission form. While on campus, students are expected to be in uniform and in their assigned rooms for testing or study hall. The permission form is available in Jupiter and must be completed by Monday, January 27, at 3:30pm. Students will not be allowed to receive permission after this time, so please plan ahead. Please note, that all students will have a regular school day on Monday and Tuesday, January 28 and 29, and will be dismissed early on Friday, January 31 at 12:45pm, following Cantabile.

Mrs. Nancy Pearcy, author of Total Truth, will be speaking to the Logic and Rhetoric school on Friday, March 14th at 2:00pm in the Great Hall. Parents are welcome to attend as well.
White Slips/Check-out Forms
Logic and Rhetoric students leaving campus mid class (as opposed to between class periods or at lunch) are asked to please communicate their departure with the appropriate teacher prior to the start of class, ideally at before or after school or at lunch. The teacher will give the student a White Slip/Check-out Form and the student is then free to quietly slip out of class at the appropriate time to head to the office to check out and turn in the White Slip/Check-out Form. Thank you for your help as we seek to improve our processes.
