Consider this passage: "After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, 'Do you want to be made well?' The sick man answered Him, 'Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me. Jesus said to him, 'Rise, take up your bed and walk.' And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked." (John 5:1-10). Notice Jesus' question. How strange that He would ask that. Isn't it obvious that the man wants to become well? Maybe not as obvious as we might think. Action is the proof of desire. Regardless of what we say we want, what we actually do shows what we really want in the end. Here Jesus charges the man to take responsibility in this new life, to no longer be passive, but to "rise up" and "walk" with Him. What do we want? How can we "rise up" to live out positive changes in our families?

Lands' End - Refresh Springtime Wardrobe & Save! – Feb. 9–24
Avoid the springtime panic! Now is a great time to take inventory of those uniform items your child may have grown out of and ensure they have appropriately fitting pieces through the 2nd half of the school year.
Excerpt from uniform policy for reference:
Garment sizing and length: Sizing of garments needs to be within reason for the child's frame. Planning for growth is appreciated, but oversized shirts, jackets, or pants are not permissible. Jumpers/dresses, skirts/skorts, and shorts are to be hemmed at the top of the knee bone or below (those which are more than 2" above the knee are considered out of uniform). Please plan for your child's growth through the school year and check specific garment dimensions as you order these items. Garment sizing and length guidelines are driven by a desire to demonstrate dignity and modesty.
February 9–24 – 40% off school uniform bottoms & 20% off everything else

Cantabile - 2nd Semester Updates & Appreciation
With the beginning of a new semester we wanted to take a moment to thank all those parents who attend Cantabile regularly. It's a joy to see the Oaks family come together to sing to our Lord as we begin and conclude each week. Even if you are only able to make it occasionally, we love having you there! As you are aware, Bible reading is an important part of Cantabile and on Monday Mr. Trotter introduced a short liturgy that is being incorporated into the Bible reading (see below). God gives us many good gifts and the gift of His word is at the top of the list. As The Oaks family let's teach and train our children to love this wonderful gift, His Word! Mr. Dowers at the end of Cantabile taught us all a Puritan prayer (see below) as well that we, as a family, will be memorizing and reciting throughout the 2nd semester. We hope that these pieces will be a joy and encouragement to your own family as we grow and lean into God's abundant goodness as an Oaks family.
BIBLE READING LITURGY
What is this book?
The Bible
What is found in the Bible?
The very Word of God
What do we know about God's Word?
It is True
Because it is True, what should we do?
With a glad heart, listen and obey
A PURITAN PRAYER
O Lord, as I cross the threshold of this day I commit myself, soul, body, affairs, and friends, to Thy care.
Watch over, keep, guide, sanctify, and bless me.
Let those around see me living by Thy Spirit, transformed by a renewed mind, clad in the whole armor of God, showing holiness in all my doings.
May I speak each word as if my last word, and walk each step as my final one.
If my life should end today, let this be my best day.
In the name of our Lord Jesus we pray.
Amen

FEBRUARY SCRIPTURE MEMORIZATION
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "They shall live by faith."
