Parent Education Corner
"The purpose of education is not the assimilation of facts or the retention of information, but the habituation of the mind and body to will and act in accordance with what (one) knows."
This means education accomplishes the "formation of a mature person who loves inquiry that reaches into earthly at well as transcendent realms of knowledge, who makes the connection between this knowledge and his responsibility in the life of virtue, and who struggles against long odds to fulfill in himself the high exigencies of the Ideal Type."
- David V. Hicks, Norms & Nobility

Parent Academy Movie Night - Sat., Jan. 15 [6–8:30pm]
This year The Oaks has invested in several new efforts to support families and parents in this partnership. One way in which this is being done is by providing parents with resources through The OaksCCA app. Another is increasing opportunities to gather in person for Parent Academy events, as well as more occasions for fellowship and learning together. Therefore, we are excited to announce that the first of these is set for Saturday, January 15. Join us for this time of fellowship and edification as we consider how to raise children amidst the ever rising flood of digital media. The question for us to contemplate is, "Are we thinking rightly about social media?" We will be watching The Social Dilemma (2020), to be followed by a discussion afterwards. The evening begins at 6pm and concludes around 8:30pm. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Stay tuned for further updates, and we look forward to seeing you there!

First quarter report cards are available on Jupiter. To view your child's report card, log into your Jupiter parent portal and select Report Card from the menu. Please contact Oaks Registrar, Anya Schnell, if you have any Jupiter questions.

December Scripture Memorization
And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger."
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"
