A Thought To Savor

"It is one thing for me to claim that God has changed me; it is quite another for those around me to acknowledge that I have truly changed. You and I are sinners. Moreover, we are self-deceived. We do not see ourselves accurately. Every one of us thinks more of himself than he ought. We are in desperate need of brothers and sisters who will tell us the truth. More importantly, we need to be the kind of people who acknowledge that truth. If my brothers and sisters in Christ continue to tell me something about myself that I do not see as true and accurate, I must come to a place where I trust the body, looking at me objectively, more than I trust myself, looking at me subjectively. This is especially true when we are dealing with people who know and love us, those who live and serve in close proximity. Praise God for loving Christian spouses, siblings, and even children in whom both the Spirit of God and a willingness to be lovingly honest abide."

As a reminder, gentlemen should keep the length of their hair above the top of the shirt collar in the back, above the earlobes on the sides, and not in their eyes. Ladies should should keep their hair accessories smaller in size and matching uniform colors. For the complete guidelines please see the Personal Grooming section of the Uniform Policy. Also, uniforms should be worn all day and students should come to Cantabile on Fridays in their full formal uniforms.

Tardy Tip

As we move deeper into the school year, everyday life and winter drives may present families with friendly reminders of The Oaks' tardy policy. The goal of the tardy policy is to provide a consistent classroom environment by minimizing late arrivals which can be disruptive to other students. However, there are circumstances where it is wise to take extra time to drive in or invest in a child needing parenting. These thoughtful choices are encouraged, but are recorded as a tardy. Scheduled doctor and dental appointments are not recorded as a tardy. If a child receives 3 tardies in a semester, parents receive a message through Jupiter. Additional tardies are also communicated in the same manner. These communications are intended to keep parents informed and, as needed, provide a learning opportunity to adjust habits and support a conducive learning environment in the classrooms. Parents are able to see recorded tardies at any point by clicking on "Attendance" within your Jupiter account. Please feel free to contact the school office with any questions.

Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
"Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us."
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:
"Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion."
"I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.'"
Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
